Still Here

Yep that's right I'm still here even though I haven't written anything for a while.

During my absence we went to the Sydney area for a few days. Being on a train for that long is a bit of a drag. When you're on the same train for over ten hours you'd expect something as comfortable as long haul economy seat. Unfortunately this was not the case and the train seats were painfully uncomfortable after three or four hours. We took the night train, it left 30 mins late and didn't make up any time. We hit the rush hour traffic as we got into the Sydney suburbs. We ended up arriving two hours late. That works out at roughly 70 kph (45 mph) not particularly impressive.

On the positive side there was a lot more space to move around than on a plane and there was a decent amount of room to move my rather long legs.

New South Wales was very enjoyable. We went into the blue mountains and saw some of the wonderful scenery up there. The weather could have been a little better but hey it's autumn and it was warmer than Victoria at this time of year. It was a journey of over 900 km (560 miles) so you would expect the weather to be a little different.

The wildlife is also a bit different as well. Snakes and other things that crawl are more common than in the cooler state of Victoria.

Made a brief trip into Sydney itself and got a few photos of the bridge and the opera house but it was getting dark and they were getting difficult to make out.

Just as we began enjoying ourselves, we had the trip home. Thankfully it was the day train, so I got to see the scenery. It was on time but I think next time we'll be flying.

Will post some pictures soon.
